It is really easy to talk and write about “being present” and living in the moment but actually doing it is really challenging. How often are you fully immersed in what you are doing?

I am constantly distracted by a number of things — most predominantly on my phone. Social media. Emails. Texts. Phone calls. Friends. FOMO. The list goes on and on.

Our monkey mind scrambles to latch onto something when we are not in the present.

We are transported forwards, backwards…optimizing for every time but the now.

Over the past week, I have not had internet on my phone. In other words, I have not had my phone with me very much whatsoever.

It has been an extremely freeing feeling to not have to think or worry about missed notifications, texts, and calls. It reminds me that i have not had a true vacation in years — where I was not worried about other things and people.

It is extremely refreshing to just enjoy the moment and realize that nothing else matters.

How do you go about thinking in the present? I think it is an under-prioritized skill. I think that I would like to master it.
