Many of today’s most active and lively cities were architected some 100 years ago. Let’s build new cities. This topic deserves a much longer post (and several books) but my core thought is that technology, since the turn of the 20th century, has fundamentally changed society. The world today looks very different from when it did back then and I can only imagine it will look even more different 10, 20 years from now.

If you had a blank slate, how would you design a city using today’s technologies?

Would roads be as big of a focus? Parking?

Skyscrapers? 3d Printed houses?

How would all of this technology be implemented?

When will we see a truly modern, “smart city” come to life in the United States? Why hasn’t one been built already?

I think this is clearly a massive, complicated opportunity with tons of nuance and technicalities.

But…

It is inevitable.

Let’s build cities.
