Personal Experimentation

We tend to think of experiments in the context of academics and science.

What took me a while to realize is that we can also run consistent experiments on our own lives. We can rapidly validate/disprove our own assumptions about our own tastes and preferences by running mini-tests.

We think we like things a certain way...we think we have found optimal points of productivity/happiness.

But we never really know until we try.

Recently, I have "tried" to experiment more with optimizing more of my work flows.

Changing small things can sometimes lead to massive differences in happiness and productivity levels. Finding those small levers to pull can be hard, so often the only way to learn about them is to just try a bunch of random things.

Eat different foods.

Sleep a different way.

Use a different type of pencil.

Really small details make all of the difference.
