What matters?

Understanding what matters is an existential challenge. Choosing right from wrong is a skill that will always be valuable.

I think many of us continue to explore the question of “what should I care about” until we get too tired and settle with whatever we are comfortable with. This is fine, as comfort often best aligns with our personal/professional/social goals.

But I wonder if/how one gets to the point of conviction.

When do we get to a point where we are 100% confident in what we are doing that we know it is the single most important thing to be working on for our lives?

“life-projects”

“life’s work”

When do you get to that point and how do you accelerate finding it? Can you?

I think what ends up happening often times is that we are all waiting around to find the perfect “life’s work” subject and we never get there because there is never a perfect opportunity.

So we settle.

Having conviction around what matters is really important — even if you are wrong. The answer is fluid.
