Today is the first day of classes in Hong Kong. I have been here for 4 days now and it has been a very interesting cultural experience.

I am in the engineering school here studying computer science, but also taking a few HK culture studies courses. I am curious how the classrooms and teaching styles will compare to an American University.

There are roughly 10,000 students at this school and about 400 exchange students from all over the world.

I chose to study in HK over alternatives (Europe mainly) because I wanted an entirely new experience. I think exposing myself to brand new people, new problems and new methods of learning will broaden my ability to understand problems and people.

Though I do hope to challenge myself academically, I realize just how unique of an opportunity it is to be here in Asia with the freedom of being a student who can travel. I hope to make the most of my free time and have a ton of fun. That is certainly a priority for me.
