#BeforeTheInternetExisted
I came across this hashtag yesterday and thought a bit to myself.
#beforetheinternetexisted
I thought it was particularly interesting because, honestly, I could not remember a time in my life without internet.
Isn’t that weird to think? I am sure it is for some of you…
But to us teenagers, the internet, and advancing technology for that matter, has not only been around, it has been an integral part of our lives for as long as we can remember.
Of course, I am extremely lucky — I have access to internet and work hard to get some of the latest technologies. I am aware that there are many places on earth, even today, which lack these, to which many would call fundamental, things.
The kids born after me are experiencing this even moreso.
The latter half of Generation Z,” or the cohort of people born since the mid 1990s, grew up with a smartphone in hand.
A map has always been a google map. Home phones and faxes are not really a thing.
This perception actually means a lot for marketers and salespeople. It greatly affects the way you can make appeals to this audience.
And as time goes on, we are going to continue to see more and more brands make efforts to reach Generation Z. Of course, the buzzword will gain popularity, as millennials did, but at the end of the day, companies will have to find ways to be transparent enough so that they can begin to start authentic relationships with this customer segment.
