I think life is often about sacrifices — making choices that have tradeoffs and opportunity costs. As you become more in tune with your inner self, and begin believing in a story that guides your decision making, you also become more aware of the “costs” of your choices.
Having conviction around what you do has become increasingly challenging, given that society tends to romanticize the work of so many other types of people.
We are often influenced by things auxiliary to our true aspirations.
We want things because other people want them. We want the checkmarks. We want the fame.
But those are steps to what we really want: happiness, confirmation, etc.
Finding those late stage things is challenging and something many of us never figure out.
