7 of my friends and I are staying at a hostel in little India in Singapore. It has been an interesting experience thus far, as we are all packed into a bunk-bed filled room.

Luckily, there is plenty of air-conditioning, but not much else in the room besides beds.

Traveling solo, I can imagine that hostels would provide an incredible way to meet new people and find community wherever it is that you want to go.

I also imagine that Airbnb, over the next few years, will come to entirely take over this hostel market and be able to provide travelers with a sense of familiarity and community anywhere in the world. I think this will become the de facto means of travel for indie nomads as there is no better way to experience a city than from the ground level, with people who understand and live it.

I think I will soon take a solo-trip to a country in Asia and either stay in an Airbnb or hostel of sorts to try and find that community feel.
