As you grow up, you find that less and less people are going to sacrifice their time holding your hand. And as you enter the high speed “professional world,” you will be reminded, time and time again, that no one has the time or resources to come up with things for you to do.
No one is going to babysit you and make sure you are staying on track.
No one is going to give you a list of things that need to get done.
No one is going to make sure you are happy.
It is up to you to make choices. No one will do them for you.
Freedom, paradoxically, can feel binding. With infinite potential and resources, there is almost too many opportunities. There are too many things that we *could* be doing with our time, how are we supposed to decide?
At startups, this is especially true. No one has time to fill out your job description, let alone tell you what you should be doing with your time. People are busy and no one has time to think for you.
At the end of the day, I just have to figure out how to provide value to others. People like that.
People like “hustlers” who are proactive, get shit done, and solve problems on their own.
People do not like explaining the same things over and over, coming up with things for others to do, and more work.
So how do you become a proactive thinker?
