If you have been following my blog and projects for a while, you likely noticed me constantly struggle to find the balance between focus and diversification.

One side of me wants to continue going wild — building, shipping, publishing as much as I can. I am always working on new projects, trying out new things, and having new experiences.

I have learned so much this way.

But who becomes successful through multi-tasking?

Really, no one.

I believe that to be successful long term you have to focus. Really focus. I do not think it is really possible to have long term success juggling tons of ideas and things at once.

But am I ready to work on “just” one thing?

I am not sure.

The hesitation makes me feel like this diversification approach is actually better for me in the short term, but I do realize that, eventually, I will have to go heads down and solve a big and important problem.

All of this “on the side” stuff may be fun and give me short term validation…but is there more to it?
