This essay is the foundation of what I believe to be an important idea.
With so much technological progress, why has it not become easier to set goals? Why is quitting habits so hard? Why do millions of people struggle to quit smoking and stop biting their nails? Why can we not stay healthy?
The inability for us humans to set goals, execute is a massive problem. And no one is working on solving it. Instead, we currently use technology to accomplish the opposite – to form “unhealthy habits.” What if consumer software actually helped you achieve?
What if technology could enable you to become a master goal-setter?
What if your employers could pay you to become a better habit builder? What if your health insurance PAID YOU to stop doing certain things that were bad for you?
Seems like a good opportunity to me. Think about all the potential we could unlock.
