And complain people do. About everything. Every successful product — be it a car (Tesla, Ford, etc.) or Facebook or Postmates or Google — people will complain.
But we all keep using it? If we stopped using it, it would go away. But rather, we complain about it and still depend on it.
It is an interesting effect.
We also feel like we know the solutions or product recommendations that would fix the problems. We wish Facebook looked a certain way. We wish Postmates had a different UX.
But we still use them.
For example, look at the example of Craigslist:
“It is ugly.”
It is also straightforward.
“The technology is not very advanced.”
But it has a clear use case and is easy to use.
We often complain about wants, when products solve our needs.
Is that the sign of a really successful product? One that may be ugly, have a bad ux, etc. — but still solves our problems?
I am not saying to strive for ugly (though I think for MVPs, simpler = better) — just a thought I had.
