You know the old saying, content is king.
Take a look at this infographic:
Case in point, content dominates the world. There has been lots of talks lately, specifically, about the lack of quality content as well as false reporting on media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
This is an important issue that greatly shapes the way many citizens around the world think about topics and consume information.
Is there a solution to this mess? I hope so.
What I do know is that the content industry is not as clean as it seems. The biggest problem that I see is a clear incentive problem.
Media sites are incentivized to produce content that converts revenue in the short run. They are not optimized to create accurate content. Whatever sells, that works best.
While there are differing opinions about how to fix this incentive problem ~ here is one of them.
I find email newsletters a particularly interesting means of changing the way journalists are incentivized to report on stories.
Anyways, would love to hear your thoughts!
