Growing up, I believed my parents had all the answers. As I got older, I quickly realized this was not the case. It was not just my parents. I soon understood that many of society’s questions do not have answers. This was a weird realization that was uncomfortable to deal with at first.
I was used to school, where every test question had an accompanying answer.
The reality, though quite obvious in hindsight, is that life is not a multiple choice exam.
There are many of life’s questions without answers.
I think many adults struggle digesting this piece of life. It is much easier to sleep at night when you know you have all the answers. It is much scarier knowing there are so many unknowns!
Accepting this truism is something that has helped me move along and sleep better – life is hard and special because of the unknowns, not in spite of them.
