I think that we are going to see more “polling” companies pop up over the next few months/year.
Here is what I mean by that…are you familiar with a recent YC-backed startup called Pulse. They partner with Universities and promote sponsored polls.
Companies and colleges can ask questions of the student body. Students are rewarded (generally financially) for answering questions. This company came out of Dartmouth and is already doing well.
The execution, though, I think could and will be better.
What could be better?
There could be better context explained? They could establish more legitimacy.
They could have more localized rewards.
They could have crypto rewards.
I think we will see more of these types of companies pop up…and eventually these will turn into semi-social platforms. “Polling” or “pulse” will be a trend because society enjoys having purpose (participating in Q & A) and enjoys hearing what other people think.
Pulse is the wedge into any type of Q & A.
This somewhat goes back to my idea of direct to customer advertising. It is the idea that individuals should be more heavily compensated for their time and opinions. We do not need large advertising networks stealing a massive chunk of the value chain.
