Start Small and Move Fast

Start Small and Move Fast

Over the last year or so, I have been involved in a number of projects.

They have been super fun to launch — and I have learned a ton from those experiences.

But 10x the number of things I have actually launched by the number of “great ideas” I, and my friends, have had. Ideas are everywhere. Seriously. We could sit around and come up with hundreds of ideas for days.

The challenge is executing on those ideas and actually launching a product from them.

I think the biggest cause of not launching a product is not because of the idea. It is because of one thing:

  • lack of execution

Why don’t we always execute? A number of potential reasons:

  • Get distracted
  • Lose motivation
  • Care about other things
  • Give up
  • Do not have the resources

Etc.

There are so many reasons why not to execute. Even when you do execute, there are plenty of things we can do wrong.

That is why I always put the emphasis on speed and building things quickly.

Moving fast and trying to test assumptions is the best way to stay motivated and get shit done. And at the end of the day, all your audience really cares about is you have something to show them. No one really cares about “ideas.”

Ideas dont change the world. People building on them do.
