One interesting aspect of my “daily writing journey,” which started back on February 24, 2016, is that there is no clear “end date” that I have in mind.
If you go back and read my very first blog post ever, you’ll see that I had initially set out to write for 30 days. The goal was simple and actionable — just write. Hit publish every single day.
On day 30 of my initial journey, I just kept going. But this time, I left the “end date” open. There was no end in mind.
The goal, though, remained the same — just hit publish.
Marching without an end goal is a quite fascinating experience.
Is there anything that you do without an ending in mind?
I think it is actually quite rare to adopt this mentality until you are an adult. Growing up, everything has an end date.
Homework assignments get turned in on x day.
Summer camp ends on x day.
Soccer season ends on x day.
High school ends on x day.
But what happens when there is no x to look towards?
Then, I think, we are forced to focus on the now. And that is exactly what writing has done for me.
It has given me a platform to just do and not worry about the end. Why worry about the end anyways? If we stop writing, we may never get there.
Don’t stop.
