I am going to be completely honest – this essay is really challenging for me to write. Today is my birthday, 21 years old. The big “21.”
Something I want to establish – internally – is this foundational idea that no one owes me anything. While reasonable people can debate about universal morality and ethical standards, the purpose of this essay is to think about a mentality, a frame of mind for tackling obstacles.
I do not think “different” is enough. In other words, different is not my goal.
This is not advice. This is not a recipe. This is me thinking, to me.
When I write, I cover the word count until I hit publish.
I have not written about this for a while, but I have been thinking more about it lately, so thought to give it a go.
Why is the status quo a good thing? Why should things remain the same? Why are we afraid of change?
