Today I do not have time to write. I literally have 3 final exams & tons of other things to do in the next few hours.
Building a business, especially early on, is a sequence of two things: execution and tough decisions.
You work really really hard on something. It likely fails. People tell you it's dumb. Then you have to make a hard decision.
One of my favorite things in the world is launching new things.
I love the sensation of having other people see the thing you worked so hard on. Sometimes that feedback is not so nice. Other times, people love it.
Regardless, I think I am addicted to getting that feedback (for ego), iterating over the idea, and launching again. It is a humbling feeling when other people use and rely on something you made.
I love watching smart people think about the world. I love hearing the semantic phrases and seeing the subtle expressions that the world's brightest minds use to convey their thoughts.
I believe that the single biggest cause of failure is distraction. Contrary, I think that people often fail to recognize this and, instead, focus on things that do not matter.
I think the only way to stay competitive in a fast-paced market is to learn faster than anyone else. When the world is changing so quickly, truly the only way to gain an edge is to outsmart or outwork someone. The challenge is that as soon as you gain an edge, the world moves. So you really have to learn how to learn if you want to remain on top.
As I've detailed on and on in these blog posts, I am a big proponent of making a conscious effort to become more self aware. Regardless of what you learn about yourself, I think it will be valuable.
Life is crazy. There are bad days. Great days. Learning experiences. Whatever you want to call it; I think if you live it right - it's a wild ride.
Since I came to college, now nearly two years ago (finishing Sophomore year), I pretty much abandoned my interest/desire to read books.
Being on time is a controllable, competitive advantage. Note to self: be on time to things, even if you are in a position of power for the meeting.
